MSO Environment Health and Science Intern

Job Summary

Environment, Health and Science is seeking approval to hire two interns for the summer of 2020 to assist with the busier months at the Household Hazardous Waste and Compost facilities. Additional duties will include learning and assisting with activities associated with a variety of programs managed by EHS, particularly with the implementation of stormwater activities.

Job Responsibilities

15% - Assist with the collection of HHW items and the handling of non-hazardous materials.
15% - Assist with providing public services at the compost facility.
15% - Work with staff on a variety of stormwater-related activities assisting with data collection, investigations, education, and documentation to meet new permit requirements
15% - Develop public outreach materials for Environmental Programs
15% - Conduct environment data assessments
15% - Conduct other Environment, Health and Science program implementation duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Qualifications - Current student enrolled in an Environment, Health or Science-related field working towards an degree. Applicant should be well-organized and detail-oriented. Positive, responsible, safety-oriented, and good interpersonal approach with people. Knowledge of computers, spreadsheets and database programs desired. Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and capable of operating a City vehicle.
